The new Perlita Ranade tennis courts were to have a synthetic surface, as against the existing clay courts in the campus. While the new tennis courts were being developed, there was much discussion over whether the synthetic surface material was to be transported from the US or to be bought locally in India. Further, the Institute’s organizers of the inter-IIT tennis tournaments were also hoping for the readiness of the brand-new courts so that they didn’t have to use the older clay courts again. Four tennis courts with Musco lighting and seating for 250 people and a practice-cum-play court at the entrance to the courts are the added advantage. Prashant Ranade Link
