SYLLABUS
REVIEW of fusion welding processes (e.g. gas metal and gas tungsten arc welding,
submerged arc welding, resistance spot welding, laser beam and electron beam welding,
etc.); Conduction and keyhole mode of welding
REVIEW of solid state joining processes (e.g. friction and friction stir welding,
ultrasonic and electromagnetic welding, etc.).
ANALYSIS of heat flow and thermal stresses in welding.
WELDABILITY of metallic materials, Defects in welding, Destructive and non-destructive
testing of welds, Weld joint design.
PRINCIPLE of brazing, soldering, adhesive and diffusion bonding.
JOINING of polymers and other non-metallic materials,
