My background is Kinematics of Mechanisms, especially, the problem of Dimensional Synthesis. What fascinates me here is the Geometry involved in motion of Mechanisms. My doctoral work was on Optimal Synthesis of Linkages. Optimal Design of other Mechanical Systems and Machine Elements are also of interest to me. I am familiar with Nonlinear Programming.
I have an abiding interest in Dynamics and have worked on Dynamic Analysis of Mechanisms. The recent developments in Nonlinear Dynamics is of interest to me. Design of mechanisms which have requirements and constraints related to Dynamics is an area I am currently working on.
One application area I have become familiar with is Robotics. I have been fascinated by the attempts to design, build and control Walking and Running Robots.
I have developed interest in Automatic Control due to my interest in Robotics and Dynamics.
My interests are oriented towards Physical Concepts and Mathematical Techniques. Mechanical Engineering does pose a large number of problems which require application of Physics and Mathematics.
