Present Team members
HARISH N is presently a 2nd year PhD student in the Mechanical Engineering department at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay.
He recieved his M. Tech and B. Tech degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Karnataka in 2009 and 2006 respectively.
Harish worked as an Project Associate from 2008-2012 in Combustion Gasification and Propulsion Laboratory at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
His research interests include experimental and numerical fluid dynamics, fluid instabilities. His PhD topic is 'Buoyant jet and plume dynamics in stratified flows' using simultaneous PIV/PLIF techniques.
During his leisure time, he enjoys playing cricket, tennis, and basket ball.
AVICK SINHA is presently a 2nd year PhD student in the Mechanical Engineering department at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay.
He recieved his M. Tech in Aerospace Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 2011. Prior to this, he was at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Bhubaneswar, where he
did his B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering in 2009. Avicks's research interests include turbulent flows, fluid instabilities and transition, and
theoretical and experimental fluid dynamics. His PhD topic is 'Modeling flow dynamics of flashing jet instabilities' using experimental and numerical techniques. During his leisure time, he enjoys travelling, photography, creative writing, and reading.
Avick is jointly guided by Prof. Shiva Gopalakrishnan.
AYAN KUMAR BANERJEE is presently a 1st year PhD student in the Mechanical Engineering department at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay. He recieved his M. Tech in Atmospheric-Oceanic science and technology from IIT Delhi in 2013. He did his B.E in
Mechanical Engineering from Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur (now converted to IIEST Shibpur) in 2009. Ayan worked as an Assistant Engineer from 2009-2011 at Foster Wheeler Bengal Pvt. Ltd. His research interests include theoretical and experimental fluid dynamics, gravitational physics, cosmology. His PhD topic is 'Turbulent convective
heat transfer under rotation' using experimental and numerical techniques. During his leisure time, he enjoys listening to music, travelling and reading books of interest.
Ayan is jointly guided by Prof. Amitabh Bhattacharya.
Sagar Zade is presently a 2nd year Mtech student in the Mechanical engineering department, specialization in thermal and fluid engineering, of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay.
He received his BTech degree in Mechanical engineering from VNIT, Nagpur in 2012.
He has worked for one year, from 2012 to 2013, as a Management Trainee (MT) in Ms. Tata Steel.
His research interests include experimental fluid dynamics and renewable energy.
His MTech research topic is 'Turbulence modulation in particle-laden open channel flows'.
He enjoys painting, cricket and long distance cycling for recreation.
Sarjerao Bhawar is a 2nd year M.Tech student in Mechanical Engineering department at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. He completed his B.E. from Sanjivani COE Kopargaon,
Pune University in 2013. His research interest includes Computational fluid dynamics, parallel computing, turbulence modeling and application of Finite Element Method in fluid flow. During his
leisure time he plays cricket, watches movies, listens music, and does cycle riding. Currently he is working
on project “Simulation of flow over an array of Vertical Axis wind Turbine”, guided by Prof. Sridhar Balasubramanian with joint assistance from Prof. Atul Sharma.

SANKET SHAH graduated with an MTECH degree in Mechanical engineering, specialization in thermal
and fluids engineering. He is joining Mahindra R&D as research engineer. Good luck!
Lt Cdr CHANDRAVEER YADAV graduated with an MTECH degree in Mechanical engineering, specialization in thermal
and fluids engineering. He is a naval officer and will be starting his new assignment as Design director onboard a ship. Good luck!
SHUBHAM YADAV is presently a 4th year B.Tech. student in the
Department of Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay. He will be graduating soon.
