Introduction

I lead the Dynamics of Flexible Structures (DoFS) Lab, where we explore the static and dynamic response of flexible, nonlinear mechanical structures. The goal of this research is to leverage these mechanical structures as building blocks to realize multifunctional metamaterials (architected structures) that can exhibit unconventional mechanical properties (such as negative Poisson's ratio, elastodynamic cloaking) seldom observed in naturally-occurring materials. These architected structures are pertinent for classical engineering applications such as vibration mitigation and energy harvesting, as well as for modern day innovations such as wearable electronics and soft robotics.
To achieve these goals, we employ a combination of analytical, computational, and experimental techniques. More details about my current, and past research topics are available in the Research tab.
