Hybird Additive Manufacturing (HAM) LAB

Hybrid Additive Manufacturing Lab

Description

HAML, which stands for Hybrid Additive Manufacturing Laboratory, is a state-of-the-art facility funded by the support of UAY and IOE programs, as well as the partners ISRO, Mastercam, and Philips Machine Tools. The private 5G spectrum for smart manufacturing is in association with Tata Communications.

HAML will be used to design, verify, and validate hybrid additive and subtractive manufacturing technologies used in areas of defense, space, and medical science. The work here will be oriented towards the question of “how to efficiently create components having novel designs using new materials?” HAML’s strength is in the way it integrates manufacturing research with our decades-old expertise in material science.

Prof. Asim Tewari, Prof. Sushil Mishra, and Prof. Anirban Guha from the Department of Mechanical Engineering are the principal investigators heading this team, supported by co-investigators, research students, and staff members. On behalf of our research team, we thank the Government of India and the IIT Bombay administration for their constant and unwavering support that has made the Laboratory possible.
